I can remember that my mother’s remedy for stressful days was herbal tea. Camomile to be exact. And as far back as I do remember with her it was a cup of tea and a book. Or a cup of coffee depending on what time in the day it was. But it was simple. She made it look simple. And despite how bad something was. She told me that camomile was the secret remedy. And she had me convinced that it was that easy to tackle a bad day.
Now that I am much older now and I have a more in-depth understanding of what being an adult consists of. I have to think it wasn’t THAT easy. And I know it wasn’t.
….but
I do what I was shown how to handle bad days. And it’s been working. Even though I know camomile isn’t going to fix everything. But I like to think that a tradition such as that is more than just a cup of tea, or coffee, milk and honey. With the thought behind it the remedies work.
I like to think that if all it took was just a cup of anything to fix everyone’s problems. The world would be a better place for it. And the rest of Jesus can fix. If more people thought like that. We would see a difference. But this world doesn’t operate like that. And not everyone likes tea. As far as Jesus taking care of everyone’s problems….not everyone believes
and the ones without faith. Without God present in their lives. It shows.
